The creative zeal that la Rinascente always displayed during the Milan design week was extended well after April 14th, all thanks to the partnership with SaloneSatellite. The objective was to offer for sale at the Design Supermarket from September till Christmas, a selection of the most original exhibits presented at the SaloneSatellite 2013. The young designers of these products will consequently benefit from the exposure that they will receive by this important showcase in the city.

Lightyears has been introducing contemporary lighting designs by contemporary designers since 2005.Along with the ability to create functional lamps, they also follow a commitment, combined with a desire to pursue a beautiful design heritage, forms the basis for the relaunch of the Orient pendent.The origin of the Orient Pendent dates back to 1963 and was one of the many commercial successes by Jo Hammerborg. Lightyears in cooperation with the Hammerborg family has revived the classic pendent while being faithful to the original orient pendent.

Diagnosed as a schizophrenic, but holder of enormous creativity, Arthur Bispo do Rosário is measured to be a major Brazilian artist, who had his works exhibited in the biennials of the world and recently at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Arthur Bispo do Rosario is a natural from Japaratuba, Sergipe. Progeny of African slaves, Bispo do Rosario (1909-1989) served in the Brazilian Navy when he was young, but it was in a psychiatric hospital, that he began producing his work, believing that he carried the "divine mission" of judging the living and dead. The artist then went on recreating all that according to his "mission", must be present in the "final judgment." Existing in the realm between geniality and lunacy, Bispo, with the only materials available in the asylum (mugs, bed covers, spoons, shoes and other considered trivial objects)created what are now recognized in Brazil and worldwide as masterpieces.Ansager |

The biggest and most famous furniture and furnishings exhibition came to an end after six days (9-14 April) of business, meetings, events and appointments that brought over 320,000 visitors to Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano.An enormous chance for woodworking technologies which, for the first time, were welcomed into the temple of design and were recognized of their contribution with regards to both work and creativity. The able setting for all this was the “I Wood Like - Handmade & digital crafting” project, developed by Federlegno Arredo (the branch of the Italian Manufacturers' Association that brings together firms operating with wood and its derivatives), the Culturalegno association that spreads the culture of wood and its conventional, artisan and artistic transformation, and Scm Group. Three different organisations but with a particular and singular goal: to show young people that they are capable of being their own boss, building real opportunities for their future even in the world of wood. As skilful inlayers and cabinet-makers, but also as “evolved artisans” who, with the aid of potent and multipurpose yet user-friendly technologies, can transform both the wood and their own destiny.Ansager |

Anglepoise was the ingenious result of collaboration between automotive engineer, George Carwardine and spring specialists, Herbert Terry &sons. 80 years on, Terry’s archetypal Anglepoise Original 1227 lamp, based on Carwardine’s pioneering perfect balance mechanism, is recognized as an iconic British design classic. All the new designs remain true to Carwardine’s original design concept, whilst incorporating essential modern features, such as energy saving bulbs.
