Following Myanmar’s recent embrace towards trade liberalization, furniture trade associations; AFIC and SFIC, will jointly lead a contingent of 60 trade delegates from six ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to explore bilateral trade development opportunities in Myanmar as well as establish contacts with relevant authorities and furniture companies for areas of cooperation.
The visiting delegation will be meeting with Myanmar’s key authorities such as the Myanmar’s Ministry of Forestry (MTF), Myanmar Timber Enterprise (MTE) as well as the Myanmar Timber Merchants Association (MTMA).
In addition, the trade delegates will also visit wood working and rattan factories as well as high end furniture distributing company in Myanmar, Nat Ray Co Ltd, whose portfolio of furniture brands include Singapore’s premium furniture brand, Lorenzo International Limited.
Mr. Vongkot Tangsubkul, Chairman of ASEAN Furniture Industries Council said, “Myanmar has a significantly untapped potential with its rich forestry resources and manpower. Its bid to welcome and enhance international relations brings good news for neighbouring countries as well as the regional furniture community to hopefully develop into mutually beneficial relationships.”Wolf Colony
